Separately, the Director of Medical, Nursing and Supporting Services at RSUP H Adam Malik Fajrinur confirmed that a patient suspected of being infected with mysterious hepatitis was being treated.
The eight-month-old patient was admitted to the hospital on Sunday (8/5). The baby from Deliserdang Regency is said to have been admitted to the hospital with severe symptoms.
“When he came to consciousness, he had decreased with a fairly yellow body, with a history of nausea, vomiting. Gastrointestinal problems were more prominent, then there was diarrhea, fever, history of seizures,” said Fajrinur.
He explained that the baby is in intensive care in a special room. The medical team has taken samples for virus testing.
With the addition of this one victim, there are currently 6 children who are thought to have died from a mysterious hepatitis. Three cases of death were in DKI Jakarta, one in Tulungagung, one in Solok, and the last one in Medan.
