Twins from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior and champions in sambo and boxing robbed a foreigner and handcuffed him after lying to him that they were anti-mafia members of the CDCOC. The brazen attack took place on October 9 last year. in the capital’s Krastova Vada district, but was discovered a few days ago.
Brothers Larry and Krum Ignatov entered the foreigner’s home around 10:40 p.m. They were with two friends. They introduced themselves as anti-mafia members of the CDCOC. Then one pulled out a pistol and aimed it at FM. The other pushed the man to the ground, put pigtails in his hand instead of handcuffs, and tied him to his legs at a desk.
They started looking for valuables and money in the apartment. They searched the wardrobe, the desk and several cupboards. They found BGN 9,700 and stole it. However, the money was not enough for them. So they took a laptop, a desktop computer with an additional video card, two external hard drives, two mobile phones and a 27-inch monitor.
The brothers sold the laptop, but not the computer, which turned out to be their big mistake. He was powerful and they kept him for themselves, acquaintances told 24 Chasa. The twins turned it on, making it easy for forensic scientists to reach them.
Larry and Krum were detained on the evening of May 4 after several months of investigation. Detectives also caught two other men who accompanied them on the day of the robbery, but they did not take part in the crime and are only witnesses.
The Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office accused them of robbery. During their remand in court, the prosecutor explained that the brothers introduced themselves as law enforcement officers. They used a real gun and tied up the man. Therefore, although with clean files, they had to remain in custody. The court agreed with the prosecution’s arguments and detained them. The two are appealing today in the Sofia City Court.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior reacted immediately and explained that they were cooperating in the investigation. From the moment of their detention, the brothers were removed from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior. If convicted, they will be expelled.
Larry and Krum Ignatov are in their fourth and final year at the police station. They are trained in the specialty “Crime Prevention and Protection of Public Order”. They were accepted there immediately after graduating from high school in 2018.
They quickly became distinguished because they were athletes. They shone on the carpet like sambo wrestlers. In his first year, Larry won first place in the 90 kg category at the state championship in martial sambo, second was his brother. The young man does not stop playing sports despite his student days and last year he won the title of the state championship, but in the category up to 88 kg. Then he competed for the team of “Ilinden” (Sofia). He beat the competition of 98 other competitors on the mat in Panagyurishte.
Krum developed into boxing. At the end of 2019 he grabbed the title in the category up to 90 kg at the national championship for employees of the Ministry of Interior.
