“I am living a waking dream”

How do you feel after this Sportswoman of the Month election?

“It’s been great fun. I saw on Facebook thanks to my parents and my family that the vote was in progress, so I followed that. I am still in the United States where I am finishing my university year. I am very touched. I have a thought for my little village of Villard-de-Lans. This is where I started hockey, so it’s a great symbol to be Sportswoman of the month in Isère. »

Can you tell us about your background?

“I started hockey at the age of three in Villard. I come from a family of hockey players. My parents play hockey, my older brother plays hockey and I have a twin sister who also plays hockey! I have been playing for the France team since I was 14 years old. We did an international tournament in Germany with Les Bleues and Northeastern University in Boston recruited me. I did four years in Vermont in high school before my university course. There, I am in my fourth year of studies with a bachelor’s degree in media, art and communication. And then I’ll do a master’s in the fifth year. We just finished school here. I will return to France because there are internships in June and July with the selection. »

“A year of madness”

You play in the university championship, which is not given to everyone…

“I do believe that I am the first Frenchwoman to play in NCAA Division 1. It’s high level, it’s a chance. There are young people who are starting to follow in my footsteps too. They see that it is possible so it makes me very happy. It’s a daydream to live and play in the United States. »

How do you view the year that has just passed between the final of the university championship and the title of world champion (D1A, second world division) with the France team?

“The World Cup in Angers in April was exceptional. There was an incredible atmosphere and the memories we made with the girls are unforgettable. All with a gold medal at the end, it’s crazy. Sportingly, collectively or individually, it’s been a year of madness. I can’t ask for anything more. Sometimes I think back to what I’ve done and I can’t seem to realize. »
