As a precaution, Milcobel has withdrawn Carrefour abbey cheese from the market after a listeria contamination in the Moorslede factory. Consumers are no longer allowed to eat the product, Carrefour reports.

It concerns abbey cheese of 230 grams of the Carrefour brand, sold in various Carrefour branches and in Mestdagh stores.
In consultation with the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FAVV), Carrefour has decided to recall the products from consumers. The products have been withdrawn from the market.
However, a number of products were sold on the Belgian market before the recall. “Consumers in possession of the above products are asked not to consume them and to return them to their point of sale, where they will be refunded,” explains Carrefour.
The supermarket chain advises people who have eaten the above products and who show symptoms such as fever and/or headache to consult their doctor. These symptoms may be more severe in young children, pregnant women, the elderly, or individuals with reduced immunity.
