NEW YORK – A mother who was crushed between two cars during a hit-and-run Mother’s Day in Queens dieda senior police official with direct knowledge of the case said Monday.
The uniformed woman continues after the search for the driver of the gardening truck, who was reported stolen, and who is accused of running over the 49-year-old woman on the street South Jamaica e huir.
Multiple videos captured the horrific moment the truck driver tried to turn around in the quiet neighborhood and smashed into a parked vehicle, ending up with three people, including the mother.
Neighbors approached the driver in an attempt to stop further damage after initially skidding a car. However, the driver made a U-turn before crashing into a silver SUV, sending it into the group.
The woman was crushed between two cars as the landscaping truck sped away. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where the woman spent Mother’s Day fighting for her life.
Police found the abandoned truck more than a mile from the scene. Senior police officials said he had been reported robbed two hours before the hit-and-run.
A description of the suspect has not been released, but the senior official said investigators have video of the driver and are working to identify the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
