Luxe and cryptos – This sports club in New York is open to cryptocurrency payments. Its customers can now pay their four-figure annual subscriptions, using one of the twelve cryptocurrencies offered, including Bitcoin.

Members of the Equinox sports club in New York can pay their annual membership fees in cryptocurrencies since May 3, 2022. Equinox is a premium club. Annual subscriptions All Access et Destination of the club cost respectively 4 044,15 $ et 4 545,75 $according to the company’s website.
The club accepts: Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH),Ether (ETH)Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Binance USD (BUSD), DAI, Gemini dollar (GUSD), USDP, and of the USD coin (USDC).

BitPay goes inflated for crypto
The company collaborates in this context, with the BitPay crypto payment gateway. Members must therefore obtain a BitPay ID to be able to make their payments in cryptocurrency.
The exchange rate of the latter into US dollars “is locked for 15 minutes when the user opened the “BitPay payment window,” according to Equinox’s FAQ.
A company spokesperson justified the club’s decision to embrace crypto, citing that “more than ever, consumers make luxury purchases » using cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin: crypto, a new trend?
Equinox is indeed not the only company to offer luxury products, which take the leap. The Gucci brand also recently announced that it may start accepting cryptocurrency payments by the end of May 2022 in five of its stores in the United States.
Faced with this trend in luxury, Equinox wants to “continue to meet its community where it is”, by accepting payments in cryptocurrencies.
This payment option, however, is currently only available at the club’s 24 centers in New York, out of the company’s 105 in the United States.
