Mysterious hepatitis attacks children at what age? Many are curious considering that recently the disease is being discussed and the number of cases continues to grow. Take precautionary measures such as washing hands, ensuring food is cooked and clean, not changing eating utensils, and avoiding contact with sick people and continuing to implement health protocols,” he explained. On a different occasion, the Head of the IDAI Gastro-Hepatology Coordination Work Unit (UKK), dr Muzal Kadim, SpA(K), revealed a number of risk factors for mysterious hepatitis including the age of children who are susceptible to infection. The causative factors are as follows.
- Weak body immunity
- Experiencing poor nutrition
- Undergo treatment for certain diseases that suppress the immune system
- Having HIV
- Child’s age
Dr. Muzal explained that the age of the child is one of the most vulnerable factors for this mysterious hepatitis. The reason is, if you look at cases of acute hepatitis that occur in a number of countries, most of them are experienced by children under the age of 6 years.
“Acute hepatitis in this case is more prone to be experienced by children because their immune systems are not yet perfect,” explained Dr. Muzal in an online discussion, Saturday (7/5/2022).
Although it mostly affects children, acute hepatitis can also attack adults who tend to have a strong immune system due to autoimmune disease.
“Although, acute hepatitis in general can also occur in adults who tend to have a strong immune system, because they have autoimmune,” he continued.
