ASKER: On Sunday morning, a report came in that a cyclist was critically injured after a traffic accident between a cyclist and a motorist on Østre Strandvei, just after Ramsvikveien in Tofte.
At 12.34 on Sunday, the Oslo Police report that the cyclist died as a result of the injuries from the traffic accident. The road is blocked towards the crime scene, and will be closed for a longer period of time. Work is being done on signage.
– Life-saving first aid was given, but the cyclist was unfortunately declared dead on the spot. Relatives have been notified, says operations manager Guro Sandnes in the Oslo police Budstikka.
Conducted emergency health care
The accident happened right next to the kiosk Brinkligrinda games & well. The police were notified of the incident at 10.14 on Sunday morning.
The motorist is a man in his late 80s, Sandnes informs the Oslo police. The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was cycling from Filtvet towards Tofte when he was hit.
Sandnes also states that the emergency services provide emergency health care on site.
Probably due to a breach of the duty to yield
Drammens Tidende’s photographer on site says that the accident took place just outside Brinkligrinda kiosk.
According to the photographer, Østre Strandvei is blocked in both directions, and all emergency services, including the air ambulance, are on site.
– The traffic accident is probably due to a breach of the motorist’s duty to give way. We have started a crime scene investigation and the road is blocked towards the accident and will probably be closed for a longer period, the Oslo police write just after 11.00 on Sunday.
