The “Hockey News – Player of the Season 2021/22” has been announced! – Hockey-News.info

We spent five months looking for the five monthly winners, who then qualified for the 2021/22 player of the season along with seven other players nominated by the editors. Now it’s clear: Red Bull Salzburg defender TJ Brennan is the player of the 2021/22 season!

Anthony Luciani (September/October), Benjamin Nissner (November), Tomas Sholl (December), Brian Lebler (January) and Bernhard Starkbaum (February) were the winners of the month and are therefore automatically qualified for the vote for Player of the Season.

In addition, the Hockey News editorial team nominated seven other deserving players: Peter Schneider, TJ Brennan, Nicolai Meyer, Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux, Scott Kosmachuk, Janos Hari and Radek Prokes.

In the fan voting, Tomas Sholl came out ahead of Bernhard Starkbaum and Scott Kosmachuk. The other places were taken by TJ Brennan, Benjamin Nissner and Nicolai Meyer.

In the editorial vote, which, like the fan vote, accounts for 50%, the evaluation looked a bit different. Salzburg defender TJ Brennan was ahead of teammate Peter Schneider and Caps goalie Bernhard Starkbaum.

The respective winners received 12 points in both the fan and editorial voting, the second-placed 11 points, the third-placed 10 points, etc. This results in the following overall result:

NAME TEAM FANP. EDITORIAL TOTAL
T.J. Brennan Red Bull Salzburg 9 12 21
Bernhard Starkbaum Vienna Capitals 11 10 21
Tomas Sholl HC Pustertal 12 7 19
Scott Kosmachuk EC VSV 10 8 18
Peter Schneider Red Bull Salzburg 5 11 16
Nicolai Meyer Vienna Capitals 7 6 13
Benjamin Nissner Red Bull Salzburg 8 4 12
Brian Lebler Red Bull Salzburg/Black Wings Linz 6 5 11
Radek Prokes Orli Znojmo 2 8 10
Janos Hari Fehervar AV19 4 3 7
Anthony Luciani Orli Znojmo 3 1 4
J. P. Lamoureux Red Bull Salzburg 1 2 3

In terms of points, there was a tie between TJ Brennan and Bernhard Starkbaum. However, since Brennan was able to win a rating (editorial voting), he was declared the winner.

We warmly congratulate the winner!
