Since October 2021, the photographic exhibition “Paris-New-York 1930, Costes and Bellonte, heroes of the North Atlantic” has criss-crossed the Community of communes of Quercy caussadais stopping off at the media libraries of Montpezat-de-Quercy, Molières, Mirabel, Realville. It ends its journey at the Septfonds media library where it will feature prominently until June 30, 2022. The initiative for this exhibition comes from La Mounière, the house of memories of the city of Septfonds, which celebrated the 91st anniversary of the first plane crossing of the North Atlantic by Dieudonné Costes and Maurice Bellonte. This event highlighted the feat of Dieudonné Costes, a native of Septfonds. This photographic exhibition recounts their prowess aboard the Breguet XIX aircraft nicknamed “The question mark” but also “Super Canister” with more than 5,000 liters of fuel in tank. Today, the public can admire “Le point d’interrogation” at the Air and Space Museum at Le Bourget in Paris.
Opening, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
This last stage of the photographic exhibition at the Septfonds media library will be marked by a vernissage on Friday May 13 at 6:30 p.m. organized by the town hall of Septfonds to thank Thomas Léonardis, a Septfontois native. This fighter pilot in the Air and Space Force donated a flight suit to La Mounière last March. The public will be able to appreciate the photographic exhibition which will be accessible on Saturday May 14, all day, during the big sale at the Septfonds media library organized by the network of media libraries and toy libraries of the Community of communes of Quercy Caussadais, for the benefit of the ‘Ukraine. The cultural service of the Community of communes of Quercy Caussadais thanks the Mounière and the commune of Septfonds for this quality partnership.
