– We have received a fantastic response to the cup final winner. It’s been great. For us, it means a lot to take that cup championship and be able to stop Bodø / Glimt’s series. Because it has almost become like that now, that it is about stopping Bodø / Glimt, says Molde director Ole Erik Stavrum to VG.
Last Sunday, the 55-year-old smiled together with coach Erling Moe for the 1-0 victory over Bodø / Glimt at Ullevaal Stadium. The yellow jerseys from northern Norway have won the Elite Series the last two seasons. Molde will prevent it from happening again.

– Remember that we were only three points behind Glimt last year. There was one match that meant that we did not win the series last year, says Stavrum, before he continues:
– But Glimt has been very good, and made a fantastic effort in Europe. All credit to them for that. The rest of us have had to get better to take on them, and I think we have. Viking is also a very good example, they look very sharp. It can be an incredibly tough and fun match against them, says Stavrum and thinks about tonight’s top match at Aker Stadium.

Kick-off is at 18.00. On the opposite half of the field, a heroic Viking team will probably stand and trip waiting to start a sky-high pressure on the Molde players. The space valleys must be prepared for this.
– It’s a really fun match to have. Viking is a team that has had a good start to the season which we of course know we have to be at the top level against to get the performance we want, says Molde coach Moe about the league runner-up from Stavanger.
Last year, romsdalingene led 2-0 at SR-Bank Arena before the team of the successful duo Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim (47) and Morten Jensen (42) turned the match into a victory for the Siddis with three goals in 30 minutes. In the opposite settlement in Molde, the match ended 2-2.
– I think it looks exciting at the top of Norwegian football now. There are teams taking steps – and Viking is one of them. Then Bodø / Glimt and we had our European Cup adventures. Behind are several teams that are in good development. I think it looks bright, and I think it will be a smoother elite series this year than in a long time, says Moe.
He led Molde to league gold in 2019. On Sunday, there was a new cup title. It has given joy and peace of mind.
– It has been good days. The boys were given time off on Monday to finish the cup final. Afterwards, the focus has been on the weekend, says Moe with a smile.
– What does the cup triumph mean for the work you are doing?
– It always means a lot to us who do this here that we win titles. For the club, the city and Romsdalen, it means a lot to everyone involved. We show that we are up there all the time and fight for the most precious metal – whether it is series or cup – every year.
