One less candidate on the left, for the first round of legislative elections, in the second constituency of Allier. Chloé Darochas announced today that she was withdrawing her candidacy. This 21-year-old law student was chosen for a national investiture for the Socialist Party, during a general assembly of Bourbonnais PS activists on February 3.

“I have taken note of the majority position taken by the left-wing parties and our fellow citizens who are calling for the union of our forces with a view to the next legislative elections”she wrote in a press release. “In order to respect this agreement and so that the coalition of leftist forces can take all the space it requires”so she decided to withdraw “with great sadness and disappointment at not being able to go all the way and bring your voice to the National Assembly”.

Last week, before the ratification of the agreements with LFI at the national level, the Communist Party had announced the candidacy of Patrice Berthomier in the constituency of Montluçon. Former deputy mayor of Theneuille, he had indicated that he was campaigning for a gathering of left-wing forces. La France Insoumise, for its part, must appoint a candidate during the weekend. Louise Héritier and Michel Beaune had been appointed leaders for the Popular Union at the start of the year.

Marie-Claude Léguillon announced her candidacy for the Radical Left Party (PRG) whose executive committee had opted for independent candidates, outside the union of the left, at the start of the week.
