Sader expects availability of 800 thousand tons of fertilizers with anti-inflation plan

The Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) and the National Association of Fertilizer Marketers (Anacofer) work began to increase the supply of fertilizers, with which an availability of the input of around 800 thousand tonsa “competitive prices”.

As part of the Package Against Inflation and Scarcity (PACIC), announced by the Government of Mexicoin addition to the decision to eliminate countervailing duties in the import of ammonium sulfatewill allow the expansion of alternatives to increase the supply of fertilizers.

In a work meeting, the commitment of the private initiative was ratified to support the anti-inflationary strategythrough measures that improve the conditions of farmers, increase the yield and production of basic grains, as well as strengthen the country’s food security.

Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Victor Villalobos Arambulastated that, with the execution of the anti-inflationary plan, the interest of producers, agribusiness and authorities to increase the productivity of basic grains in the spring-summer 2022 and autumn-winter 2022-2023 cycles.

Villalobos Arambula expressed that this initiative allows visualizing a horizon that gives peace of mind in the agricultural year and, under a timely review of the results, monitor the progress and the impact on the productive partin support of farmers in states where the program does not operate Fertilizers for Wellness.

Accompanied by the Director General of Soil and Water of dependency, Areli Ceron Trejothe federal official indicated that work will continue with Anacofer to promote consolidated purchases, training schemes and registration with the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) of new formulas in the production of more effective and sustainable fertilizers.

The members of Anacofer, led by Gabriel Duarte Picosrecognized the efforts and openness of the Secretariat to find mechanisms and incentives in the production of more and better fertilizers. Likewise, they expressed their interest in teaming up with the Government to join this and other projects for the benefit of the national agricultural sector.

They reiterated their commitment to seek the better conditions for producers and review the work agenda with the corresponding authorities, in the search for fertilization alternatives for the Mexican countryside at affordable prices.

Finally, they underlined the importance of strengthen security on highways, streamline loading at ports and reduce customs clearance times, which adds to the initiative of facilitating conditions to increase productivity in the agricultural sector.
