Ejea will incorporate innovation agents with funds from the ministry

The Ministry of Science and Innovation has approved the granting of nearly 1.8 million euros in aid for the incorporation of innovation agents in 54 municipalities of the Network of Cities of Science and Innovation, the Red Innpulso, among them, that of Ejea de los Caballeros, in the province of Zaragoza, which will receive around 42,000 euros for hiring of this staff. Through these grants, the ministry will contribute to the 90% of the annual cost of these agents, the maximum percentage granted for being towns with less than 20,000 inhabitants. In municipalities with between 20,001 and 100,000 inhabitants, the Government will contribute up to 75%; while, in cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, it will finance up to 50%.

Specifically, the Executive will allocate these nearly 42,000 euros to the municipality of Ejea and another 11 more throughout the country: Abanto Zierbena (Vizcaya), Almussafes (Valencia), Ermua (Vizcaya), Etxebarri (Vizcaya), Gata de Gorgos (Alicante), La Solana (Ciudad Real), Los Santos De Maimona (Badajoz), Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia), Salinas (Alicante), Vilanova Del Camí (Barcelona) and Villamayor (Salamanca).

Agents role

The agents of innovation will be dedicated exclusively to the implementation of municipal innovation policies. This figure will promote the development of digital innovation projects, the tendering of innovation public procurement projects, and sustainability, energy saving or circular economy plans. It will also foster local technological and social entrepreneurship. The beneficiary entities must carry out, charged to this subsidy, the hiring of a local innovation agent in the three months following the notification of the aid granting order.

La Red Innpulso (ARINN) It is a meeting forum for cities that have been awarded the ‘City of Science and Innovation’ award by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. is currently made up of 63 cities of all sizes and in the new call for awarding the distinction, 32 cities have been presented.

The ‘City of Science and Innovation’ award, created in 2010aims to recognize cities that stand out for their commitment and commitment to R&D&I, supporting innovation in their territories, defining policies, promoting local structures, institutions and companies with a strong scientific, technological and innovative.

Through this network, collaboration between these town councils in terms of innovative policies is promoted, good practices are shared in the management of said policies, and communication initiatives of these projects to citizens are encouraged. Likewise, the Innpulso Network is an active agent for promoting policies such as public procurement of innovation, support for SMEs and entrepreneurs, and participation in projects in the context of the Horizon Europe Program.
