Sinisa Mihajlovic returned to training today with Bologna just days after being discharged from hospital for treatment for leukemia and celebrated with a special lunch.
The coach was initially diagnosed with the disease in July 2019 and recovered after chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
There were signs in his blood tests that the leukemia was coming back, so he returned to the Sant’Orsola Clinic for six weeks of further treatment.
Today was his first day back on the training ground with his Bologna players and they celebrated with a special outdoor barbecue lunch with everyone together.
It remains to be seen whether the doctors will give the manager the all-clear to sit on the bench in this weekend’s Serie A game against Venezia at Stadio Penzo.
