Dodgers-Cubs postponed due to rain; will be played on saturday

The first game of the series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, which was to start Friday at Wrigley Field, has been postponed due to rain.

The match was rescheduled for Saturday night to close out a split doubleheader. The start time for the duel that was previously scheduled for that day was brought forward in order to be able to play both games.

The Dodgers have won three straight heading into their six-game road trip. Mookie Betts and Max Muncy homered in a 9-1 win over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.

Tyler Anderson, Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler are expected to pitch this weekend against the Cubs.

Chicago comes into the series on a slump in that it has lost seven of its last nine games. Nico Hoerner and Patrick Wisdom homered Wednesday night, but the Cubs fell 4-3 to Lucas Giolito and the White Sox, their crosstown rivals.

The team announced that Drew Smyly will be coming off the bereavement list to start Saturday’s doubleheader. Daniel Norris will get his first start of the season in Game 2.
