Charlotte, NC.- The second edition of the ‘Cine Casual Film Series’ returns to Charlotte for lovers of the seventh art to have the opportunity to see recent and internationally acclaimed Latin American films, from May 21 to June 18, 2022.
‘Cine Casual Film Series’ is presented by Cine Casual and funded by the North Carolina Council on the Arts, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
IMPORTANT
“Latin American cinema is rich and diverse, like the Queen City itself. The region produces more than 600 films per year, but due to a lack of distribution, it is difficult to see them in Charlotte theaters,” said Cine Casual founder Giovanna Torres.
The second edition of the ‘Cine Casual Film Series’ will kick off with “Hecho Aqui,” a showcase highlighting four local short films powered by Latinx talent, on Saturday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at the Midwood International Center (1817 Central Ave. , Charlotte, NC 28205). The presentation will be followed by a discussion about Charlotte’s Latin music scene and the making of ‘The Final Note’, with special guest Tony Arreaza, founder of Carlotan Talents and guitarist for the long-running Latin band Última Nota.
Some screenings will be followed by short panel discussions with artists and community leaders from Charlotte, connecting themes seen in the films with local issues and perspectives.
