The city of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, is almost surrounded by Russian troops and the “LPR” group. The situation in the city is very complicated, they are trying to storm it from several directions. About it informed head of the military-civilian administration Oleksandr Stryuk on the air of the national marathon of Ukrainian TV channels.

“The city is almost surrounded by Russian and LPR troops, and they are trying to storm the city in several directions,” he said.

He added that the invaders are trying to completely surround Severodonetsk and are shelling it from nearby villages.

“We are fighting for Voevodovka, this is a village located near the city. Actually, it is part of the city, but still it is a village on the outskirts. On the other hand, they are trying to make a breakthrough, but our military repulse these attacks. The city is holding on, but one feels that they are trying to go around the city,” the official said.

Oleksandr Stryuk said that despite the heavy fighting near the settlement, many residents are not going to leave anywhere. According to him, the rate of evacuation has been reduced to 10 people a day. There are still 15 thousand inhabitants in the city and they do not leave.

Recall, on May 6, the head of the Lugansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai said that the Russian military will go on a large-scale offensive in the Luhansk region in the coming days. According to him, the enemy troops will throw all their forces to break into Severodonetsk or Popasnaya.

Earlier, on March 4, British intelligence stated that despite the strong resistance of the Ukrainian military, the Russians continue to set goals capture Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk. These two cities will allow the Russian Armed Forces to strengthen control over the northeastern part of Donbass.
