Referee Daniele Orsato accused fans Manchester City has fixed the score of the match against Real Madrid. How is Orsato’s track record?
Orsato officiates the match Madrid vs City at Santiago Bernabeu in the semi-final second leg Liga ChampionsThursday (5/5/2022) morning WIB. The whites comeback to turn around to win 3-1, as well as qualify for the final with an aggregate advantage of 6-5.
The accusations against Orsato emerged after the Italian referee was deemed to have dismissed the game early. In the screenshot that was bustling on social media, it showed Orsato blowing the long whistle while the game still had a few seconds left before the end of injury time.
Another highlight of Daniele Orsato is his leadership which is considered quite lenient. Orsato did not punish Casemiro after committing harsh violations against Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden.
Orsato is also considered less assertive after Aymeric Laporte allegedly slapped Luka Modric in the face. Even though both players were finally given a yellow card.
So how is Orsato’s track record so far? The 46-year-old referee is registered with FIFA and has started officiating Champions League matches since the 2012/2013 season.
Orsato has overseen major European matches including the 2019/2020 Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich as well as the semifinal match in the same season between Madrid and Chelsea.
IFFHS 2020’s best referee has taken charge of six matches overall Real Madrid in that competition, four of which were in the knockout phase. As a result, El Real won three times and lost three times.
Meanwhile Daniel Orsato has already refereed the match four times Manchester City from Liga Champions with details of each of the two matches in the group stage and the knockout stage. As a result, City won twice and lost twice.
