Venezuela produces quality coffee, good flavor and excellent prices. This was evident this Wednesday, in the Military Circle of Caracas, during the I International Meeting of Venezuelan Specialty Coffee 2022, with the participation of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro. During the activity, the Head of State reported that the nation has 378 registered gourmet brands.

“From the smallest that are produced in some conucos, communal councils, to the largest that stand out beyond our lands in export processes,” he explained. Likewise, it has 308 roasters nationwide.
He added that the state of Lara is the first producer of coffee, followed by Portuguesa, Trujillo, Mérida, Táchira, Monagas and Sucre. Together, these entities represent 86% of the nation’s total production.

In a second group are Yaracuy, Anzoátegui, Barinas, Aragua, Carabobo, Falcón, La Guaira, which total 13.55% of production.
In addition, Lara has the largest number of coffee producer associations with 35. Behind them are Portuguesa with 27, Trujillo with 11, Mérida with 1 and Táchira with 5.
He also highlighted that Venezuela made a leap in the production of quintals of coffee, going to 18 quintals per hectare. In 2021 it reported 3,188,880 quintals produced; while in 2022 production is expected to be 3 million 831 thousand 498 quintals of coffee, 17% more than the figure achieved in 201. «We are growing in the real economy with an agroecological model; that is, without chemical fertilization»President Maduro commented.
