the detail of the agreement on the left

After tough negotiations, which took place on two tables, nationally but also locally, here is the key to the distribution of the union on the left in the 12 constituencies of the Gironde. Unsurprisingly, LFI takes the lion’s share with six constituencies: the 3e (Bègles, Villenave, Talence, Bordeaux-Sud) already owned by Loïc Prudhomme, the 5e (Medoc), the 7e (Pessac, Gradignan), the 9e (South-Gironde), the 11e (Blayais) and the 12e (Between two seas).

Ecologists win three constituencies: the 1re (Bordeaux-Nord), the 2e (Bordeaux-Centre) and the 10e (Libournais). The PS will lead this union in two constituencies: the 4e (Right bank) owned by the PS Alain David, and, it’s the surprise of the day, the 6e (Merignac, Saint-Medard). The Communist Party inherits the 8e (Arcachon bay).

LFI’s leadership

We understand here that La France insoumise took the leadership of the Gironde left by imposing its will on other parties, particularly on the Socialist Party which we know is very established in Gironde. However, the PS had a busy shopping list and saw itself leading the fight in several constituencies, such as the 4ethe 5ethe 6ethe 9e or the 12e. Not just.

However, the PS presented itself for the negotiations in dispersed order. If, locally, Jean-Luc Gleyze, the president of the Department, took the hand, it was however only partially heard. Alain David, the outgoing deputy of the 4e, is strengthened. On the other hand, where many thought that the PS would defend its chances in the South-Gironde, even the Médoc, it is finally in the 6e constituency (Mérignac) that the Socialist Party was retained.

LFI has chosen to retain the monopoly of the fight against the National Rally, which has ambitions in the Médoc as in the Blayais. In the latter, the Communists proposed the candidacy of Sébastien Laborde, elected departmental of the sector. In the end, the communists inherited the Arcachon basin… If the idea was to settle scores with the PCF, LFI would not have gone about it any other way. As for environmentalists, of the three constituencies obtained, only one, that of Bordeaux-Centre, seems winnable.
