Gabriele Aicher, legal protection officer of the judiciary, explains in an exclusive interview why she is resigning. She no longer wants to work for this judiciary, she says to the “press”.
Die Presse: You announced your resignation on ORF through the lawyer Manfred Ainedter, of all people, whose engagement you had publicly criticized in November. Was that wise?
Gabrielle Aicher: I didn’t declare my resignation through Ainedter. The only truth is that he asked me if he could say it if he was asked in any way. But that was not an announcement of retirement.
But that’s how it worked.
This is an unfortunate effect. I had no intention of making a public announcement.
In retrospect, was it a mistake to involve the Ainedter law firm at the time? You were accused of having asked his office for advice on your criticism of the economic and corruption prosecutor’s office, even though it represented an ÖVP politician accused by the WKStA.
