Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force, Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) Zubairi Djoerban Denies the suspected adenovirus as the cause mysterious hepatitis This is related to the Covid-19 vaccination.
He said so far this hypothesis has not been proven or supported by research data.
“This hypothesis is not supported by data,” said Zubairi through his twitter account @profesorzubairi, Monday (2/5).
“Because most of the children affected by this mysterious hepatitis have not yet received the Covid-19 vaccination“he added.
He explained that the cause of the mysterious hepatitis that attacks children is still being investigated by researchers around the world. Some confirmed that there was Adenovirus subtype 41 in some patients’ bodies. The virus then met with SARS-CoV2 or Corona virus.
“Experts are investigating, including in Indonesia. Some found Adenovirus 41, some found SARS-CoV2, partly a combination of the two viruses, and still possibly triggered by other causes,” he explained.
For information, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) is currently investigating the case of three Indonesian children who died on suspicion of having mysterious hepatitis.
The World Health Organization (WHO) also declared an Extraordinary Event (KLB) in a mysterious hepatitis case that attacks children in a number of countries and has emerged since April 15 last. The reason is, of the 169 cases detected by WHO, as many as 74 of them were infected with adenovirus.
Scientists are still conducting research to find the genetic makeup of the virus. In addition, it is also necessary to take samples to get an overview of adenovirus 41 in certain areas compared to other areas.
