The singer says that her weight has fluctuated all her life. “Some people get depressed from that, I didn’t have that. But I did think: I don’t feel fit.” It felt like her pants were getting tighter during her performances, so it was time to tighten the belt herself. With the aim of losing ten kilos, Edsilia went on a diet.
“The Alizonne diet has helped me with this: blood is drawn to see what you are deficient in, for example vitamins, and then you receive constant guidance. As a result, I have been able to permanently change my eating pattern, which in my case means: a lot proteins, few sugars and no carbohydrates during the week.”

No carbohydrates means (cucumber) cucumber and gloom for Edsilia. For example, she doesn’t eat bread – although she doesn’t mind if there are no salads – and when she cooks rice or pasta for the family, she makes herself a portion of zucchini pasta or cauliflower rice. “That doesn’t feel like a lot of effort.”
By presenting the program About Weight she will learn even more about nutrition and its impact on our health. “I’m not saying you should deprive yourself of everything, but it would be good if we were a little more aware of our diet: now and then a mandarin instead of a biscuit, a handful of nuts instead of chips.”

Despite this, she still managed to gain a few kilos during the pandemic. “Because of corona I went out less, I moved little and I needed more fun at home and therefore more food, haha. I am now overweight again.”
The entire interview with Edsilia Rombley can be read in the latest edition of Beautiful world which will be in stores from Wednesday.
