Meta reports that upcoming high-end VR headset will be ‘much more expensive than $800’

They say “much more than $800”. So expect it to be “over $1000”.

I think around $1500 myself.

but remember, this will not be the successor to the Quest 2. This will be a separate product for the business market.

What will be negative for us quest owners, will be the positioning. Once Meta has such an expensive product in the market, it will undermine the position of the Quest 2 (and later 3). Currently, all the things they try are coming to the Quest. Hand tracking, keyboard tracking, bank/desk detection etc. Of course, because there is currently only 1 headset they sell. So all the new features come there.

The Cambria will take the position of development/bleeding edge platform out of the quest range, so I expect much less innovation in the quest area. That high price for the Cambria has to be justified.
