Karlsruhe – Marcel Franke from the second division soccer team Hannover 96 is moving to league competitor Karlsruher SC in the summer. The 29-year-old central defender has signed a three-year deal, the Southwest club said.

Franke’s farewell, who was captain at 96 and has been deployed since 2019, was announced on Monday. His contract in Hanover expires at the end of the season. For Lower Saxony he made 28 appearances in the league and four games in the DFB Cup this season. He had previously played for Norwich City, SV Darmstadt 98, Dynamo Dresden, Greuther Fürth and Hallesches FC.
