The Krefeld Ravens’ winning streak continues
Krefeld The footballers of the Krefeld Ravens also won the second game of the season with ease and thus lived up to their role as favorites in the Oberliga. This time they celebrate a 31:9 victory in Dortmund at the Giants.
(svs) The Krefeld Ravens remain clearly on course for promotion. After the opening win against the Münster Mammuts a week ago, head coach Jörg Hintzen’s team also won the away game against the Dortmund Giants with a clear 31:9. The success is particularly impressive because the Krefeld team defied bad luck with injuries. Important forces were lost in the outstanding US-American pass receiver Marion “JR” Leach, who had injured himself against Münster, in the very strong ball carrier Noah Kölling in the first game and in another receiver, Marvin Zander.

That was also evident in the first half, because the Ravens struggled. The well-established premier league team from Dortmund hardly allowed the guests’ strong offensive of the previous week to unfold, and so after a touchdown and a field goal at half-time, Krefeld was 10:9 ahead because Dortmund had awarded an extra point.

During the break, the otherwise calm Tobias Janßen, one of the team captains, took responsibility and spoke to his team’s conscience. As a result, the Ravens dominated the second round almost at will. The defense allowed almost nothing and the first of three more touchdowns followed in the first ball possession. In the end, running backs Darion Neal and Luis Emker, as well as pass recipients Glenn Holloway and Nicholas Tenwinkel, secured the undisputed victory.

“For me, that was the best win in recent years. Not because it was so good in terms of play, but because we achieved it as a pure team effort,” said a satisfied Hintzen in a club compilation after the match.
