DEPOK, KOMPAS.com – Fire at Kemiri Muka Market, Depok, which occurred on Monday (2/5/2022) at around 17:52 WIB, at least 43 merchants’ stalls were scorched.
“The area that burned was about 1,000 square meters, scorching 43 merchant stalls,” said Head of Operational Control of the Depok City Fire and Rescue Service Welman Naipospos in an official statement quoted by Kompas.com, Tuesday (3/5/2022).
Welman said it took his party up to two hours to tame the fire.

The officers had difficulty extinguishing the fire because the building of the traders’ stalls was dominated by wooden materials.
“The safe point is under control at 20.00 WIB, by deploying approximately 50 personnel and 12 pumping vehicles,” said Welman.
Welman confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident. He also suspected that a short circuit was the cause of the burning of dozens of traders’ stalls in the market.
“(There are) 100 people who have been rescued. However, the losses behind the incident have yet to be estimated,” Welman added.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta-Bogor KRL connection was experiencing problems.
As a result, a number of passengers piled up in several platforms of Depok Lama Station and University of Indonesia Station.
