Wissler is now head of the mayoral district – Badenweiler

Müllheim passed the baton to Badenweiler.

(BZ/sh). The 13 mayors of the district of Markgräflerland have a new chairman: Badenweiler’s town hall boss Vincenz Wissler has taken over the honorary post from his colleague in Müllheim, Martin Löffler. As deputy, Eschbach’s mayor Mario Schlafke follows the Hartheim community leader Stefan Ostermaier.

At their first meeting after a two-year break due to corona, the mayors of the Markgräflerland met last week in Badenweiler for an intermunicipal exchange. As the mayor’s office of the spa town announced on Monday, at the one-day working session they discussed cooperation between the municipalities, with the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district and the accommodation of refugees from Ukraine. “The tasks assigned to the municipalities have increased significantly in recent years. This is precisely why the inter-municipal solidarity of the cities and municipalities in our region is necessary,” the mayors stated. Also on her agenda were support offers from the district’s Electro-Mobility Advice Center, and the nutrition strategy of the Freiburg Region Nutrition Council was also presented.

The mayoral district of Markgräflerland is by far the largest in the district. Since Peter Wehrle, who as Mayor of Sulzburg was head of the district administration for almost 20 years, retired in 2013, the chairmanship has changed every four to five years. Most recently, Martin Löffler took over the position from his Bugginger colleague Johannes Ackermann.

“I’ve always had a lot of fun, apart from a few small drawbacks, and I also saw sense in it,” said Löffler, looking back on the volunteer work on Monday. He is pleased that Vincenz Wissler and Mario Schlafke are now chairing and deputizing. The passing of the baton was unanimous. The mayors of the district thanked Löffler and Ostermaier. “You have always represented the interests of the parish in an exemplary manner.” The inter-municipal working sessions were well coordinated and prepared. “I would like to thank my colleagues for their trust and, together with my deputy Mario Schlafke, I am looking forward to the task,” said Wissler, the new Sprengel chairman. At the end of the session, he and the other mayors visited the Cassiopeia thermal baths, which have been run as the state’s state spa since 2021. The committee discussed tasks and challenges with the new management.

More than a regulars’ table

There are five mayor districts in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. Auggen, Badenweiler, Bad Krozingen, Ballrechten-Dottingen, Buggingen, Eschbach, Hartheim, Heitersheim, Müllheim, Münstertal, Neuenburg, Staufen and Sulzburg are represented in the Sprengel Markgräflerland. The parish is an informal body, but even without legal provisions it is much more than a regulars’ table for the mayors. As a rule, they meet four times a year in the committee, which serves to exchange information, coordinate and act together towards other actors. However, not everyone is always in agreement.
