Fifteen far-right activists attacked the May Day demonstration in Angers, denounces in a Press release the Maine-et-Loire Solidarity Trade Union. A statement confirmed by the publication last night of a video claiming responsibility for the attack, posted on the Telegram channel on which far-right activists post their violent actions.
According to the Solidaires union, “ a first provocation took place at the start of the demonstration at 11 a.m. The steps of the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church located on this same place Imbach (starting place of the parade) were then occupied by the thugs of the local extreme right. An hour later, on returning from the demonstration to Place Imbach, the far-right activists, still present, charged the procession with at their head, according to Solidaires, the spokesperson for Alvarium, a local small group. dissolved last November by decree of the Minister of the Interior.
If the attackers were repelled by the demonstrators, then the police as the images show, this attack directed against a parade of the day of struggle of the workers in Angers is a sign, one more, of an upsurge violent actions of the extreme right.
