It writes Stavanger Aftenblad’s youth initiative Byas. According to them, the unnamed students they have spoken to react both to the amount set aside and to the destination of the trip.

The board of the line association for electrical and data, the Led line, consisted from March 2021 to March 2022 of twelve students. The line association in total will consist of around 450 bachelor students.

According to Byas, the total revenue for the line was stated at around 930,000 kroner – mainly from events and company presentations. The expenses before this board trip must have been NOK 560,000.

200,000 out of 930,000 make up 21.5 percent.

Genette Våge (24), known from “The Master of the Masters” on NRK in 2021 – recorded before the current period, was chairman of the board at the line and the one who planned the Dubai trip. She states to Byas that 200,000 kroner was set aside for the trip, which was a blue trip for the others on the board.

– We do not work for ourselves on the board, but for all students. Overall, more has been spent on students this year than on the blue trip. It’s sad for us who have worked and worked for a whole year, that people get annoyed as soon as we get something extra. You have to give something back to students in order for them to get involved in the board, says Våge to Byas.

VG has tried to contact Våge on Monday, but has so far not received a response.

FAMOUS PROGRAM: Våge became a familiar face through the “Master of the Masters” in the new year 2021.

The board should have been informed at the beginning of the period that they would be rewarded with a blue trip if they did a good job. This should have been common practice, but previously the trips have been to other cities in Norway or to neighboring countries. Normal budget should have been around 5000 per person.

The current chairman of the board, Joar Landa (23), who was responsible for finances last year, states that they spent just under 200,000 on the Dubai trip.

Byas has reviewed documents showing that the blue tour was not listed in the original budget. According to them, it was entered in a copy of the budget later.

– Only towards the end of the board year do we see how much is left, and how much can go to the blue trip. At the general meeting, I informed about what we had spent, and should spend, money on. This was over a month before the blue trip. All the students were invited, says Våge to the Stavanger newspaper.

According to Byas, no minutes from the general meeting should have been sent out.

Chairman of the board Våge says the choice of blue tour was between Svalbard and Dubai, and that she expected reactions to the destination in advance.

– Therefore, we have not promoted the trip much, and have not posted anything on the line association’s channels. This is not an event for the line association, but for the board. There will always be different things in different countries that are not good, says the chairman of the board to the newspaper.

They write that the board members shared photos from Dubai on their private Instagram accounts which, among other things, show them in the desert, on a yacht and on a jet ski.

Here is one of the updates Våge shared on his account with 19,000 followers:

Previously, among other things Norwegian influencers have been criticized by Amnesty for traveling to and promoting Dubai. Recently also received Formula 1 criticism for not taking human rights seriously.

Byas has been in contact with local companies that have contributed money to the line association. None of these have objections to the way the money is spent.

The new board at the line has decided that they can spend a maximum of 120,000 kroner on a blue trip. Some students also react to this sum.

The leader of the Student Organization at the University of Stavanger (StOr), Eira Aas Eide, says that there is a big difference in what the boards of the various line associations spend on themselves, and that it may be wise to prioritize trips for everyone.

She also says that she understands that students react if it is true that this board has spent 200,000 kroner on a trip.
