3 Children in Jakarta Died Suspected of Mysterious Acute Hepatitis All

KOMPAS.com – Three pediatric patients who were treated at Dr. Ciptomangunkusumo Jakarta died allegedly due to hepatitis acute mysterious child.

Previously, cases of mysterious acute hepatitis also afflicted children in a number of European and Asian countries.

The three patients died within the last two weeks to April 30, 2022 with suspected Hepatitis acute with unknown cause.

Ministry of Health’s explanation

The Ministry of Health is currently investigating the cause of this mysterious acute hepatitis incident through a complete virus panel examination.

“During the investigation period, we urge the public to be careful and remain calm,” said the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, in the official statement received Kompas.com, Sunday (1/5/2022)

Nadia said that the three patients who died were referrals from hospitals in East Jakarta and West Jakarta.

His party said the Ministry of Health had increased vigilance in the last two weeks after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared cases of acute hepatitis that attack children whose cause was not known as an Extraordinary Event (KLB).

Nadia said parents need to be aware of this disease by observing a number of symptoms.

The symptoms that arise in cases of mysterious acute hepatitis in children with no known cause are as follows:

  1. Symptoms of yellow
  2. Stomach ache
  3. Vomiting
  4. Sudden Diarrhea
  5. Urinating the old tea color
  6. Pale stools
  7. Seizures
  8. Loss of consciousness.

Nadia urges, if a child experiences these symptoms to immediately take him to the nearest health facility.

Prevention

There are a number of efforts to prevent mysterious childhood hepatitis that can be done, including taking precautions such as washing hands.

In addition, there is a need to ensure that food is mature and clean.

Nadia also advised not to change eating utensils, and to avoid contact with sick people.

He also appealed to continue to implement health protocols.

About the mysterious acute hepatitis case

This mysterious case of acute hepatitis with no known cause since it was designated as an outbreak by WHO, reports continue to grow.

There were 170 cases reported from 12 countries. In addition, the cause of the disease is not yet known.

From laboratory examinations abroad, it is known that patients were tested for common hepatitis viruses, namely types A, B, C, D and E.

However, the results show that these viruses are not the cause of the disease.

Of these patients, 74 patients who were tested molecularly detected an adenovirus identified as F type 41.

In addition, from 20 cases of SARS-CoV-2 found and 19 cases detected co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and adenovirus.
