Selular.ID – WhatsApp is working on a Multi Chat Service feature that will allow users to chat with the same account on multiple phones, or on phones and tablets.
Citing WABetaInfo, this information provides instructions for registering the device that the user is using as a companion, by scanning the code using the main phone, although at this time it cannot be confirmed as a truly scannable code.
Information found in the previous beta suggests that devices will gain the ability to sync up-to-date messages, albeit through end-to-end encryption.

Both screens have been found in the Android version of the app, which implies that the feature will support chat on a secondary phone or tablet.
Additionally this information, combined with Register Device as Companion information that instructs users on how to use WhatsApp on other devices, adds compelling evidence that this feature is in development.
There is currently no information available regarding the availability of this feature in the iOS version of the application or when it will be launched, although information circulating indicates this.
Technically, WhatsApp already supports the use of accounts on various devices via the Linked Devices feature, which currently only supports using a computer as a secondary device. This feature is available on both the iOS and Android versions of the application.
WhatsApp rolled out Linked Devices in public beta in November 2021, and it has been improving since then, although there are still some features that are not supported, depending on the user’s primary device.
Linked Devices is referred to by some as a useful device for desktop users.
Obviously, WhatsApp technically supports account usage across multiple devices, via the Linked Devices feature, which currently only supports using a computer as a secondary device.
