Milos Milojevic unexpected sorti left Hammarby without a coach with only a few months left until the pre-season training – but the solution could hardly have been better. As is well known, Martí Cifuentes came into the vacant post, the results of which have so far been perfect.

Five victories in the Swedish Cup means that Hammarby will play the final again this year, and another five in the Allsvenskan after as many rounds means that Södermalmsklubben is in the table with a margin of four points.

Hammarby has never started a season better, but despite its historic record, Cifuentes does not claim any of the credit.

– Im happy for that. It’s something to be proud of. But for me it’s just a number. What is important is that today we train better than we did last week. That’s the only way to keep winning.

The Spaniard humbly adds in front of a handful of reporters on Årsta IP:

– Sometimes you put too much emphasis on us coaches when it comes to the players.

Did you expect the game to sit this fast when you came here?

– It is the best possible scenario to win ten matches in a row. It’s not easy, especially when you’re just joined a club. Then it will be more difficult – but this is thanks to the quality of the players. If you do not have a good squad, it does not matter what you do as a coach and then it is impossible to win ten games in a row.

– He’s at the top, absolutely. I think he is very smart and knows a lot of football. I have had him for a short time but so far there is nothing negative to say. It feels like we see football in the same way.

Among other things, the team has become stricter in its positioning and better at moving the ball quickly, Bojanic continues.

– It is perhaps a little clearer now. He is very good at conveying what he wants. With the players we have, it feels like the game idea benefits us. We must believe in it even more and all the time.

Cifuentes repeats that Hammarby will sooner or later lose – but the only thing that exists here and now is that it will not happen against table runners-up Malmö.

So far, they have struck Helsingborg, Sundsvall, Mjällby, Degerfors and Sirius, but that the reigning champions from Skåne would be the first real test, Cifuentes does not sign.

– I have great respect for Milos and for Malmö, he says and continues:

– But I also have that for Sirius and Degerfors. Mjällby is third at the moment and is also a good team.

The big test is the season in general, he points out, and what the rating will be after the last match of the year.

– We will prepare in the same way as usual. I understand that there is a lot of attention around this match and that our supporters are looking forward to it. We do too, but the road there is the same as the rest of the matches.
