Just a few weeks ago, the second season of the series “Batwoman” even made it onto German free TV. Now showrunner Caroline Dries (41) announced via Twitter that US broadcaster The CW has canceled the DC series after season three. Her tweet says so: “I just received the sad news that ‘Batwoman’ will not live to see a fourth season.”
She was sad on the one hand, but also full of gratitude on the other. “What an honor to have made 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people have worked on the show. Thank you to the producers, cast and crew. And thank you, fans!”
The series about Batman’s cousin Kate Kane aka Batwoman had to cope with a heavy setback after season one. Main actress Ruby Rose (36) quit after 20 episodes, from season two actress Javicia Leslie (34) slipped into the Batwoman costume as the newly introduced character Ryan Wilder.
In the US, the 13-episode third season has already aired in its entirety. Here the fans have already witnessed the end of the series. When the final episodes will come to Germany has not yet been clarified.
A second DC series is being scrapped
But not only “Batwoman” fans look into the tube. The CW also canceled the series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. That was also the showrunner of the series known on Twitter. Keto Shimizu, 37, wrote: “Well folks. It’s been an incredible run. Unfortunately, The CW has informed us that there will be no ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 8.”
