Motocross returns to Berchères-les-Pierres

The Garennes circuit, in Berchères-les-Pierres, has been waiting for this moment for almost three years. Entirely redesigned in a more modern version in October 2019 – “We only have good feedback after the rolling sessions”, assures the president of MC Berchères Jean-Charles Goupil -, the track will finally experience its first races this Sunday. May 1.

1,500 spectators expected

The innovative departmental trophy, scheduled for Saturday April 30 with four categories, has been canceled for lack of a sufficient number of entrants. “It’s disappointing, the drivers of the department have not all played the game”, observes Jean-Charles Goupil. But the events on the menu for May 1 will take place and could attract nearly 1,500 spectators, according to the wishes of MC Berchères.

For the public, the French National 125 championship will certainly be the highlight of the day. The fight promises to be fierce between the 40 or so drivers on the starting grid, after a second stage not disputed, a fortnight ago, in Saint-Mihiel (Meuse) due to excessive dust.

A look back at the 2019 edition: Berchères-les-Pierres faithful to its tradition of May Day motocross

The first, at the end of March in Saint-Chéron (Essonne) had given rise to great tussles with six men ending the day with more than 30 points. They will almost all be at Berchères to try to do better, starting with the leader of the championship, the Rhodanien Bastien Guillaume (Aigueperse). On the local side, two MCB pilots, Loïs Carlier and Kenzo Brulé, as well as Alcide Treton (MC Cloysien) will be on the track.

Eure-et-Loir will be more strongly represented in the other events, the second stage of the Open league championship, a Grand-Ouest quad trophy and an old motorcycle trophy. It promises a great day back from motocross in Berchères…
