Freiburg (dpa) – SC Freiburg may also have to do without goalscorer Nils Petersen in the game at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday (6.30 p.m. / Sky). After missing the 3-3 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend due to illness, the striker returned to the Bundesliga club’s training ground on Thursday. Coach Christian Streich left it open whether the 33-year-old will also be in the Baden duel. “We don’t know yet if it makes sense,” said the coach. That also applies to defender Manuel Gulde, who was also ill and was completely absent in the previous English week.
Young offensive man Kevin Schade (torn abdominal muscle fibre), who, according to Streich, may even need an operation, is still not an option for the European Cup contenders.
