Composed poem by Latvian author Montas Kromas Black sister was written in 1961 and is considered one of the very first works of her modernist period. It captures both the feeling of falling in love and the desire to transcend the boundaries of continents and cultures in order to learn from the distant sister the things that are most important in life. The song also includes a video created by Ieva Kauliņa in collaboration with artist Zani Oborenko, choreographer Kristīne Brīniņa and cameraman Daina Jurags.
“In collaboration with colleague Zani Oborenko, Ieva Kauliņa has created a subtle and hypnotic mixed media animation for the song, which suits this song so much. Collaboration with Ieva Sigmai has been instrumental in creating unusual scenographic solutions for our concerts. But her talent extends well beyond the performing arts: she is interested in animation, illustration, and graphic design. Her versatility is truly amazing, creating an environment and costumes for Latvian films, “says the group ‘s musician Jānis Ozoliņš.
Sigma is preparing for the opening concerts of the album, which will take place on May 25, 26 and 27 in the new building of the Latvian Academy of Arts. Each concert will be different in content, because before the group Sigma performances by other artists are also expected.
