Juventus president reveals reasons for not renewing Dybala’s contract

Turin

President Juventus, Andrea Agnelliopen voice regarding the decision not to renew the contract Paulo Dybala. Transfer Dusan Vlahovic So that’s one of the factors.

It is certain that Juventus will not renew Paulo Dybala’s contract which will expire in June 2022. The Argentine striker will end his seven-year service with the Bianconeri.

Dybala to date has made a total of 288 appearances for Juventus with 114 goals. Several clubs such as Barcelona and Liverpool are reportedly ready to accommodate the 28-year-old player on a free transfer next summer.

Juventus and Dybala were reported to have reached an agreement regarding a contract extension in October 2021. However, the situation later changed after the Old Lady asked for Dybala’s contract value to be lowered from the initial value agreed upon in January 2022. Dybala’s camp then rejected this.

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli now open voice regarding the final decision not to extend Dybala’s contract. The situation for continuing the deal with Dybala changed after Juventus signed Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window.

Juventus redeemed Vlahovic with a transfer value of 70 million euros from Fiorentina. This Vlahovic transfer makes Juventus have to be very wise regarding spending to extend player contracts.

Agnelli reveals Juventus then prioritize young players such as Matthijs de Ligt and Manuel Locatelli for long-term projects. Dybala had to be sidelined because contract negotiations did not come to an agreement after that.

“In December, I initially said that signing Vlahovic was not possible in January, I think it was difficult. I am thinking about the possibility of a contract not a transfer,” Agnelli was quoted as saying by Footballa Italia.

“Making an offer that doesn’t come to fruition is not going to be good for the club and Dybala. There are limited resources and we have to choose. We chose Vlahovic, De Ligt, Locatelli… We want to make Juventus younger with a pool of Italian players, more close to the fans and the club’s values. The quality players who will allow us to keep should match our ambitions.”
