For better working conditions and more quality in childcare

After the workers of the social services, who stopped work on Monday, the childcare facilities in Munich went on strike on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022.

Merle Pisarz, ver.di secretary for social and educational services:

“The employees of the educational service take to the streets for better working conditions and more quality in educational work. Early childhood education must be brought back to the forefront of work. This requires paid working time for the preparation and one’s own qualification. Continuing education must be self-evident and also rewarded. Because children and their parents have a right to education. But that is only possible with sufficiently well-trained staff and good working conditions.”

In Munich, employees of these companies have been called to strike:

Timur Demir, educator at the City of Munich:

“I’m striking to send a signal that trainees would also benefit from more appreciation, better working conditions and sustainable training conditions. That would encourage more people to pursue a career in education and be happy (in the long term).”
