WhatsApp tests support account on multiple devices

A new beta version of WhatsApp is launching the option for users to link a second mobile device to their account.

Users who depend on multiple devices will soon no longer have to search for the right device for their own WhatsApp account. The platform is testing a new feature where users can connect multiple devices to their WhatsApp profile. That reports techsite WABetainfo† They noticed the feature in the latest beta release.

In an additional menu, users will be given the opportunity to link an additional device. This is allegedly done on the basis of a QR code that users have to scan with the second device. This could also be done with a tablet, so that WhatsApp also works easily on these devices.

WhatsApp already launched last year the function to link your account to up to four different computers. Now it seems that mobile devices are also being added. It is currently unclear how many maximum connections are involved. We suspect that WhatsApp will hold it on two devices in a first round. Moreover, it is not yet known when and whether the feature will ever be released to the general public, although it seems to us that we will not have to wait very long for that.
