The caravan stopped this Saturday for its 41st stage in the heart of the great Ensemble of Sarcelles. The tour of France of “Our neighborhoods have a mouthful”, launched in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis), will stop on Sunday in Clichy-sous-Bois before concluding in Paris on March 12.
“We are here to give the floor to the inhabitants, so that they can be heard”, launches Mohamed Mechmache at the microphone, on behalf of the national coordination “Not without us”, which ends its tour of the popular districts. He led the caravan to the four corners of France to carry the voice of the inhabitants within the framework of the presidential election campaign.
“We are not a political party. We are just citizens who work in the neighborhoods, ”he continues, calling on everyone to go to the voting booth, without giving political instructions. “If we must make the revolution, it must be done at the ballot box. Abstention works against us. We are accomplices when we remain spectators. The coordination evokes the inequalities “experienced on a daily basis”, the rise of “security and anti-social” discourses.
This word given to the inhabitants took the form of a questionnaire that everyone could fill in as they pleased, make proposals in all areas, from culture to health, through justice or purchasing power. “People don’t ask to be treated as exceptions. They want decent schools, public services, nursing homes, which comes out after the health crisis,” he continues, referring to the urgency of the situation. “Politicians need to get to the root of the problem. »
At his side, Nabil Koskossi, who founded the collective Made in Sarcelles, mobilized for the Sarcelloise stage. “We ask the inhabitants not to be only spectators of the presidential election. But also an actor. To bring out proposals. He recognizes the difficulty of this mobilization and its necessity. “There is up to 70% abstention in the neighborhoods, sometimes 80%. The idea is to meet people who don’t go to public meetings. »
The proposals will be given to the presidential candidates
The Tour de France will end with the presentation of a manifesto which will be sent to the candidates. A text that will synthesize the proposals collected after the inhabitants met over the stages. Among them, Malika, who has lived in Sarcelles for 35 years, who filled out the questionnaire with care. “For transport, I would like more buses, the free Navigo pass, especially for young people and students,” she says.
“There should also be more security in transport, more police in the evening and fewer young people on the streets at night,” she adds. I also find that we don’t talk enough about associations. “Cleanliness is also important. Why not a fine for those who throw out the window? also asks Malika, who would also like “more solidarity for isolated people”.
A subject dear to Hamid, who grew up in Saint-Denis and now lives next to Sarcelles, in Garges-lès-Gonesse: “There is a lack of support for the elderly. Many are too lonely. I have the feeling that they are sometimes left to their own devices, that they die alone. It affects me. Finally, he notes a deterioration in the situation: “Our working-class neighborhoods are neglected”.
