Steam gives away two free games, this time RPG veterans will get their money’s worth

In the digital video game store Steam you have the opportunity to download two classic pips belonging to the genre of RPG games. Both games belong to the series The Elder Scrolls and are the first part of TES: Arena and the second part of TES: Daggerfall.

Bethesda added on Steam 26.4. four of its classic Elder Scrolls games: Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire and Redguard. It offers the Arena and Daggerfall for free, which is probably not a time-limited event, and you can buy Battlespire and Redguard on Steam for less than 12 euros (5.99 euros for each game).

TES: Arena and Daggerfall were developed by American game developers at Bethesda Softworks. The Elder Scrolls Arena was released in 1994 and is a game with a really giant world, at least for the time it was released. You walk through the arena in a 3D environment seen from the first person and it is obvious that the authors were inspired by The Ultima Underworld, at least as far as dungeons are concerned. The game boasts a large open world of many provinces, major quests and dungeons plus side quests and dungeons.

Unfortunately, it only makes sense to go along the main storyline and try out randomly generated side quests and underground spaces. Their complexity does not reach the level of secondary tasks from the later modern parts of the series. In the Arena, your task is to free Emperor Uriel Septimus VII, who was imprisoned by the treacherous Imperial battle mage Jagar Tharn. If you only follow the main story, you will be able to finish the Arena in about 23 hours. In the magazine Score, Andrej Anastasov rated the game TES: Arena 86% and awarded it the title Game of the Month.

The second episode of The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall was released in 1996 and is a well-improved Arena. The second part actually laid the foundations for the whole series as we know it today. The main, secondary tasks and tasks for various factions (guild of warriors, guild of mages, guild of thieves, dark fraternity, etc.) await you. In total, you can complete 227 different tasks in the game. As an agent of Emperor Uriel Septim, you are sent on a mission to find out what happened to King Lysand and a letter sent to the former Queen Daggerfall. The game is significantly larger than the Arena and it will take you approximately 33 hours of your time to complete the main storyline. But it is not a problem to drown even 100 hours of your time in the game. Jakub Červinka rated TES: Daggerfall in Score 8/10 magazine and the game won the HIT Score title.
