The daily COVID-19 updates via the official website covid-19.sr have ended. The dashboard was introduced by the government from March 2020 to monitor official developments regarding the coronavirus in Suriname. Covid-19.sr was able to closely monitor developments surrounding the coronavirus for two years.
The dashboard was developed to provide every citizen with more comprehensive information during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The analyzes also helped specific target groups, such as physicians and policy makers, better optimize community support. The Covid-19 virus has been barely active in Suriname for several weeks. There is currently a trend where society going back to normal† This means that the updates will now take place weekly instead of daily. The Bureau of Public Health (BOG) will regularly publish the daily COVID-19 figures on its own website.
Health Minister Amar Ramadhin asks the community to remain alert, because the virus is still present. “That is why it is important to vaccinate now so that we will be better protected later if the virus flares up again,” said the minister. He emphasizes that vaccination is still the best protection against the virus.
