Klaus Schulze – pioneer of serious music, is dead: millions and millions of sounds float through the world – culture

Klaus Schulze is dead: one of the forefathers of today’s electronic music. Without him there would be no power plant and no Paul Kalkbrenner.

Aversions were rather alien to the musician Klaus Schulze, but he could get a little allergic if someone tried to place him in an extended series with the Cologne composer Karlheinz Stockhausen: electronic musicians, cross-genre, among themselves, so to speak. Unlike Stockhausen, however, who used borrowings from early electronic music to ultimately secure the totality of his electroacoustic total work of art (the “Light” cycle, etc.) and tended to officiate like a god at the mixing desk, Schulz wanted to immerse himself in and with his completely synthetically producible, actually lose endless sounds.
