KPK Alludes to Anies’ Term of Office Regarding Formula E, Deputy Governor of DKI Says This

Jakarta

KPK highlight commitment fee IDR 560 billion Formule E paid for activities beyond the term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria invited the KPK to investigate the payment.

“If it’s a matter of later, let it be the BPK area, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the KPK area. Please review later to what extent this is possible or not,” said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Jl Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Thursday (28/4/ 2022).

Riza ensured that all programs or activities planned by the DKI Provincial Government and the DKI DPRD had gone through a long process. Even so, it respects when KPK as well as other law enforcement officers want to investigate the entire process of this Formula E event.

“We respect the officers from the BPK, whether from the KPK, the police and the Attorney General’s Office, whatever courts, law enforcement officers, we respect each other. We ourselves, the provincial government, try to plan and implement as well as possible various forms of existing activities,” he explained.

Previously, the KPK was still investigating the alleged corruption case related to Formula E Jakarta. KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata said KPK investigators were still gathering information regarding various aspects of the alleged corruption case. KPK investigators are also looking into holding similar activities in other countries.

“So far the investigation process is ongoing and we are still looking for information, for example regarding how Formula E is organized in other countries. Is there any kind of commitment fee and so forth. We are also trying to ask for information from the party who received the transfer of funds from the DKI Provincial Government,” said Alexander at his office, Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday (26/4).

The same information was obtained by KPK investigators from JakPro as the organizer of the electric car race. Alexander also said that information from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) stated that local governments should not use the budget for events with business purposes.

In addition, Alexander highlighted the payment from the DKI Provincial Government for the implementation of Formula E DKI. This is a concern of the KPK regarding the term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta which will end this year.

“We see all of these various aspects, what is clear is that currently Rp 560 billion has been paid for the implementation for the next 3 years, 2022, 2023, 2024, and that exceeds the current governor’s period. November, yes, 2022,” said Alexander.

According to Alexander, the KPK will explore all possibilities to investigate allegations of corruption related to Formula E. The KPK will explore whether there is a state loss or not.

“There is a stipulation that an official may not bind a contract that uses a budget that passes through the government concerned, there is such a provision. Of course later we will explore this by asking for expert information, how about the state’s losses, whether there have been state losses,” he explained.
