KPK Bogor Regent Ade Yasin has been named a suspect for allegedly giving bribes to employees of the West Java Representative Audit Board (BPK) for the sake of an unqualified predicate (WTP). The KPK suspects a similar mode of action in other ministries and institutions.
“Such methods are currently likely to occur in other ministries or institutions and local governments,” said Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday (28/4/2022).
Ali reminded that the agency responsible for auditing finances could carry out their functions honestly. He said corruption should not occur in the process of examining government agencies’ financial statements.
“KPK also reminds the financial audit authority not to abuse its authority to gain personal gain through corrupt practices,” he added.
Ali asked all government agencies to avoid the practice of bribery in the process of examining financial statements in order to obtain a WTP opinion from the BPK. The KPK is concerned about the practice of bribery for the sake of the WTP.
“KPK appeals to every ministry, institution and local government to avoid the practice of bribery in obtaining an unqualified opinion (WTP) in the process of examining their financial management,” said Ali.
“KPK is concerned that there are still regional heads as public officials who do not uphold the people’s mandate in managing the state budget. Budget management should be utilized and reported in an accountable manner as a form of accountability,” he continued.
Ali appealed to the public to report to the KPK if they know of allegations of corruption. He said eradicating corruption needed the role of all parties, not only the KPK.
“KPK also hopes that people who know information and data related to corruption with a background in such modus operandi will complain and report to the KPK. Because efforts to eradicate corruption certainly need our role together,” he said.
