Berlin. The former leader of the left-wing parliamentary group, Gregor Gysi, made serious allegations against the Hamburg news magazine after the “Spiegel” published about alleged sexual assaults in the Left Party. In an nd guest contribution, Gysi writes critically about his party: “Neither the loss of importance nor the party’s existential difficulties are acknowledged, and there is no concentration on the essentials. That is self-abandonment at its best.” The “Spiegel” noticed all of this and “is of the opinion that our party is no longer needed”.
According to Gysi, together with the lawyer Johannes Eisenberg, he dealt with the processes surrounding sexual assaults. One cannot blame Linke boss Janine Wissler, who came under criticism after the publications in Der Spiegel. “She didn’t cheat, she was cheated,” says Gysi. “Of course, we must not allow sexism – in whatever form – in our party,” said the left-wing politician. The “Spiegel” is not about that, but wants to “continue the inner tearing up of the party. And it seems to be working.«
In order to overcome their depression, Gysi calls on his party to “regain the cultural and spiritual Eastern identity.” In addition, a concentration on the question of social justice and decent work, an anchoring of social responsibility in ecological sustainability and a realistic peace and foreign policy are necessary. “Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine has more than shaken us, not confirmed it. We have to take note of that and not try to salvage old attitudes by circumventing this fact,” explained Gysi. nd
