The Teatro de la Zarzuela will live this coming May 5 with “Don Gil de Alcalá”, by maestro Manuel Penella, its first premiere of the post-pandemic era with the orchestra finally complete and the choir free of masks, according to the decision taken unanimously by its members.
Metaphorically, it will be a new conquest of this “comic opera” or chamber opera, as defined by its author, who is responsible for both the libretto and the score, which “has been a success every time it has been done”, as the director of the theater, Daniel Bianco, who this time is also a set designer.
