Vietnam wants more EU support in cybersecurity protection | Policy

Minister Tô Lâm highlighted the vigorous development of the EU-Vietnam partnership in all areas, especially since the two sides established their bilateral comprehensive cooperation partnership in 2016 and implemented the EU free trade agreement. -Vietnam (EVFTA) last August.

The Minister pointed out that in the field of cybersecurity, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the EU have benefited from close cooperation with the regular organization of conferences, trainings, online meetings, consultations and discussions. professional exchanges.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security highly appreciates the support and active cooperation, dialogue and experience sharing in the development and implementation of the law on cybersecurity of the EU.

Minister Tô Lâm proposed to the EU to continue to share its experiences in cybersecurity of major works of important information infrastructures, cross-border data management and data protection in key areas…

With regard to the project “Strengthening security cooperation in and with Asia” (ESIWA) initiated by the EU, Minister Tô Lâm stressed that his ministry attaches great importance to the results of EU-funded projects under the program for the period 2014-2020, adding that the projects have made positive contributions Vietnam’s economic development, making the Vietnam-EU comprehensive cooperation partnership deeper and more practical.

He suggested that the EU strengthen its cooperation with Vietnam within the framework of the ESIWA project, in particular in the areas of cybersecurity, maritime security, counter-terrorism and crisis management, and proposed organizing detailed discussions to outline specific activities to meet the demands of all parties.

For his part, Gunnar Wiegand said the growing ties between theUE and Vietnam have not been limited to economy, trade and investment, but have expanded into the strategic areas of politics, diplomacy and security.

He pledged to continue serving as a bridge to further strengthen and elevate the EU-Vietnam partnership.- VNA
